Publicising these organisations and events does not imply endorsement of all they do.
Over the last few years, York Christian Youth Holidays (YCYH) has seen an amazing growth in it's holidays, programs and events. Next year, our work will be expanding to 3 summer holidays for 8-16 year olds, and we urgently require a person who is able to to commit themselves on a voluntary basis, to provide crucial administration support for this charitable organisation. The time required would range between 1 and 2 days a week, dependent on the time of year. A copy outlining the key responsibilities are available upon request. For further details contact: Tim Blackburn, 12 Stonethwaite, Woodthorpe, York. YO24 2SY. Tel 01904 705004 or email office@ycyh.org.uk
Recently we announced that next year we will be running 3 summer camps, including a brand new junior camp. With the stronger links with churches/youth groups, youth workers & organisations across the area, it has become abundantly clear that this is part of God’s plan. Mick & Sarah Fox (ex Invaders Leaders, SU Camps), James Simister (St Michael le Belfrey – Children’s Coordinator) & Dan Finn (YOYO – Primary Schools Worker), are the team of leaders who will be overseeing this junior camp. With all this now in place, we have now booked Whithaugh Park for the following dates: Whithaugh 1 - Senior: Saturday 26th July - Saturday 2nd August 2008. Ages 11-16 (School Years 6-11). Price £185. Places available 90.Whithaugh 2 - Senior: Saturday 2nd - Saturday 9th August 2008. Ages 11-16 (School Years 6-11). Price £185. Places available 45.Whithaugh 3 - Junior: Saturday 2nd - Thursday 7th August 2008. Ages 8-11 (School Years 3-6). Price £130. Places available 25. The price includes full board accommodation, activities, trips, insurance and all transport (including return travel from York ). On the senior camps, there may be a small additional cost, dependant on the activities chosen, as these vary in price. You many have noticed that for those who are aged 11 (School Year 6), will have the option to go on either the junior or senior camp. This has been done to incorporate the children who are already involved, having these options available. In future years, we foresee that the senior camp age will be raised to a minimum 12 years of age.
We would love more churches/youth groups to be involved in this amazing ministry, so that together we see God really impact the lives of young people. If your church/youth group is interested, please do contact us. Brochures, together with booking forms, will be available from the next ‘RUup4it?’ on Sunday 18th November. Next year, there will be opportunities for new leaders to be involved, as this work can only be done by having a large team of leaders who have energy, a sense of humour, and a passion to work alongside young people. All leaders will have to undertake appropriate checks through the Criminal Records Bureau, and training will be provided. So, if you know anyone whom you think would love to be involved in this exciting ministry, then again please contact us. Further details on leaders can be found on our website www.ycyh.org.uk/contents/leaders. If there is anything that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

A Positive Alternative to Halloween
Last year we held a very successful Light Party evening at Copmanthorpe Methodist Church for all playgroup and primary school age children. The idea was to provide the children of the village with a positive alternative to Halloween and we will be doing the same again this year. Details, times etc. are on the enclosed leaflet. Feel free to advertise this in your own fellowship - we would be delighted to welcome children from outside Copmanthorpe. Although the registration form indicates registrations should be returned by 17th October this was primarily for Copmanthorpe Primary School so we could have an idea of numbers. Registration can be done by simply e-mailing us.
Yours in Christ
